Our work together began with a roar on Saturday, June 5, at the West Bend Museum. All WP&S members are invited to participate. You need not be a host or day host to serve on a committee. Please contact any of the names below to volunteer. Full names are given once, last names thereafter.

The following decisions and actions were taken:

Committees formed:

Team Leaders - relay decisions, suggestions and questions from committee chairs to Coordinator, who relays them to and from Japan Coordinator back to team leaders who relay them to committee chairs.

Sponsors - obtain funding to offset our expenses

Translators - obtain people fluent in Japanese and the language of art to translate for our guests during receptions, demos, workshops, and events

Museum Contacts - filter information to and from exhibition sites thru installation and take down of our exhibits

Field Trips -plan educational/cultural/entertaining activities within each chapter and for all participants

Parties - plan the fun - welcome and farewell within each chapter, overnight stay for all participants

Shipping - work with Museum Contacts to meet deadlines for receipt and delivery of work from and return to Japan

Gary Gresl, SE, will receive all work from Japan at Milwaukee customs, deliver it to exhibit sites, and return it to customs. Barwick and Zastrow SC will assist

Name Tags - printed in English and Japanese to be worn during event week

Plaques and Gifts - to officials and others who assist us in our successes

Scrapbooks -Document our Exchange for WP&S and Japan to use for museum proposals, funding, member recruitment and more

Shelley Grund NE and her husband have created a news and information website for participants and plan to make CDs of our Exchange for future museum proposals and for sale. Yanny will assist. See the website at

Actions:

Barbara Barnard will assemble and send a mailing list to all participants for Committee members to use in contacting each other to begin creating the budget required to establish our participation fee. Please add WP&S to your subject line on email so recipients will know it is okay to open.

Japan on the Road will meet on July 3, 2004, to answer our questions and to pose their own. Please give your team leaders your questions to forward to me.

Progress will be reported by committee chairs or representatives at our next meeting on Saturday, August 7, at the Ramada Inn in Fond du Lac, after the State Board meeting.
