Announcements

Charis Congail has volunteered to be Team Leader for the NE Chapter. Please remove her name from the Field Trips and Sponsorships Committees.

Virginia Huber has volunteered to chair the Field Trips Committee. Pattie Moen has volunteered to chair the Sponsorships Committee. Please let the team leaders know as committee chairs are selected so that we can inform everyone.

News from Japan

There were many good questions posed at our June 5 meeting. Michiko has responded to some of them and will answer the rest of them after her July 3 meeting with the Japanese artists. She also asked some questions. Please email your responses to your team leaders to be forwarded to me. For example, how many of you want the Japanese to arrive on Sunday, how many on Monday? We'll give Michiko the dates that get the most votes.

There are two possibilities for arrival and departure. Which do we prefer:

Arrive Sunday evening 10/2/2005, Depart Monday morning, 10/10
Or
Arrive Monday evening 10/3/2005, Depart Tuesday morning 10/11

Results of the Questionnaire completed by Japanese participants:

No one has allergies.

All look forward to the overnight stay. They understand this may be an additional expense. None are worried about the cost.

Re participants:

A. 28 participants, 24 from 2000 plus 4 new artists. We'll receive their resumes and images before the end of July. This number was 30. Some artists have canceled. It will likely go back to 30 before the event.

B. Artists who have visited before wish to stay with previous hosts. This is of concern to Michiko as it leaves all new artists without an experienced "guide." She will discuss it at the July 3 meeting.

C. Here is breakdown of visiting artists:

4 will bring one spouse - Kenji Kato, Yuji Kobayashi, Gen Saito, Nozaki Fujiko (f) will bring her daughter. If, as stated, some artists wish to stay with previous hosts, Yuji will stay with the Yannys, Gen will stay with the Barwicks

4 will bring wife and daughter: Taketsune Kubota, Shuichi Yamada, Makoto Hirose, and Ryoichi Musha - please indicate who can take three guests. M. Hirose will stay with Oreck. R. Musha will stay with Sylvester. The Kubotas will require a new host this time.

2 are married couple - Kazuyuki Terada and Shizue Kitoh (F) and Masao and Hiroko Yamauchi (F). All are artists

I have asked Michiko to confirm that the remaining 16 artists will come alone.

Michiko will send us a CD Rom of all resumes, artworks, photos and websites if the artist has one before the end of July.

Reminders

If you have any questions for Michiko, please submit them before July 3 so she can ask them at her meeting.

If there is an error in the mailing list sent to you by Barb Barnard, please contact her with your correction.

Committees, let your Team Leaders know how you are coming along with your plans and costs of those plans. This is what we'll be discussing at our August 7 meeting in Fond du Lac. Of course, the biggest benefit of the meeting will be getting together again. Meantime,

Go Team!
